In the seventies, GUST was often also known as simply “Student T.V.”, and at the time, one the several logos used resembled a TV screen, stylized as a square spiral form. The other logos in use around the seventies, were simply the lowercase text “gust”, and one modelled after the then-BBC logo.
This logo appears alongside GUST’s Glasgow University Guardian column, beginning in 1977, and is engraved on the back of the Westward TV Trophy (awarded to GUST after three-consecutive NaSTA wins in 1977, ’78, ’79).
In an ident/interlude/title sequence (undated, but in colour) this form of the logo with “Glasgow University Student T.V.” written across also appears (listing image above), along with a reference to Campus Fax. This video begins with a countdown clock, which does not itself contain a logo, but simply the text “Glasgow University Student TV”.
