This picture was taken just after Freshers’ Week 2014, as the office was mostly cleared up (except some boards lying about, building up for GUST 50).
The Tape Archive has been moved to Archive Services as it was deemed a Fire Hazard in about 2012. The top shelves are now used for our NaSTA Awards. The GUST logo was painted on the wall during the summer 2012 renovation, where some dedicated GUSTies tidied and repainted the entire office. This undertaking also saw the removal of the RF network cabling and amplifiers that had already been out of use for a number of years then. The hand-built cabinet (90s?) still survives, housing cameras, tripods, and sound equipment. GUST currently edit on Apple iMacs (and one mac pro, which mainly serves as a storage unit), using Adobe Premiere Pro. A few tape players are currently set up on one of the desks, to support the GUST 50 archiving and digitization project, although all new programmes are recorded to flash storage.
The edit suite downstairs had to be cleared out around 2012, as the SRC annexed it to make room for some new servers.
