Don’t Take Your Car For A Drink
Don’t Take Your Car For A Drink. (Not including the Road Safety film.) No-one knows who came up with that line – it just seemed to come into existence when we weren’t looking. Produced by Gerry Law who also did the v/o, the petrol pump attendant is Sheila MacDonald (Barrister), the driver is Murray Peterson (BBC Production Manager) and the policeman is Duncan Malcolm (Scottish Water) who also edited it between a half-inch portable recorder and an IVC one-inch, both open-reel, marked up with chinagraph, wound back by hand, manually started and manually pushed into record! I did this for a living and I’m impressed! The best bit isn’t in the cut piece, though. It was where the car’s owner, Anne Gavigan (Solicitor), almost fainted at Murray’s hand-brake turn! Gerry Law
